Amy is an MIT graduate, with both an MS and BS in Materials Science and Engineering, as well as an MBA in Operations Research from MIT Sloan School of Management. She worked as a Product Manager at a semiconductor test company in Boston and as an Engineer and Engineering Manager in Silicon Valley. After moving to Miami, she focussed on raising her children, volunteer work, and some consulting. For the past three years, Amy has volunteered as a coding instructor to girls in grades 6-12 at iPrep Academy and the Pinecrest Branch Library.
In 2016, she co-founded CodeArt to inspire more young women to study Computer Science. Amy feels passionately about increasing the percentage of women in STEM, particularly in the field of Computer Science, which is the only STEM major that has seen a decrease in the percentage of women graduates since the 1980s. This passion is based on her own experience, as well as her daughter's experience working as a software engineer.
